Short answers
Teak care questions
The long ones go to help@teakpatiostore.com.
Teak oil or teak sealer
Anderson recommends a sealer. It seals the oils already in the wood, lasts up to a year and leaves nothing sticky on the surface. Oil warms the color but wears off fast and can hold mildew if applied unevenly.
Does teak furniture need oil
No. Oil changes the color only. Untreated teak weathers to silver gray and keeps its strength.
Can you use dish soap like Dawn to clean teak
Yes. Anderson suggests a scrub with hot soapy water for routine cleaning, and a mild dish soap does that job. For gray or stained teak, use a teak cleaner and rinse well.
How often should I clean teak furniture
A soapy scrub a few times a season keeps moss and dirt off. Clean before sealing, and seal about once a year if you want the honey color.
